Introducing Agricultural Heritage Village

행복이 티(tea)나는 마을

The Ju family first settled in Youngcheon Village at Youngcheon-ri about 1500 years ago, and the Daso (tea place) in Youngcheon Village collected teas for the central government in the Goryeo Dynasty. Youngcheon-ri of Hoecheon-myeon in Boseong was named after the nearby waterfall and its spiritual sound, which was believed to cleanse the souls of listeners.

Youngcheon-ri Agricultural Heritage Village

The residents of Youngcheon-ri village have launched the “Youngcheon-ri Residents’ Community” to safeguard the agricultural heritage value and toprevent damages to tea-field damages, to assist aged farmers and to plant tea trees as their regional street trees. The community prays for a rich tea harvest in their Cheongmyoungcha Festival of the Heritage Village every April, and share and celebrate the year’s safe tea farming with neighbors during the Tea-Flower Festival of the Heritage Village every autumn. The Community is devoted to cherishing the heritage value along with the life culture of their region for the next tens of thousands of years.
